Alida Moore April 1891

Wednesday April 1
Quite warm Done usual work Isaac brought Anna home and then went to Beaver Dams and came back this way and I went home with him helped Hattie clean house. He brought me home again at night Arthur went to mill with feed and graham and brought lumber home. Then went to Beaver Dams to get horses shod. Got Tom hurt so that he got Pa’s horse to drive home and led Tom. Pa came with him. Arthur went after his grist with Pa’s horse. Arthur went to Beaver Dams in evening again.
Thursday April 2
Rained and snowed in pm Done usual work and patching Went over to Dean Seman’s in pm visiting, I Anna and Allie, Rhoda, Mrs. Shewman and Cynthia. Arthur took us over and Ed came after us. Anna staid over, went to Will’s. Arthur went and took Pa’s horse home but brought her back.
Friday April 3
Damp day, rained some Done usual work, baked cake in am In pm cleaned bedroom to begin cleaning house. The boys drew out manure. Arthur went after Anna towards night
Saturday April 4
Cold snowy Done usual Saturday work Annie baked cookies and another cake, churned. Ed Anthony’s folks were over. Olla Tucker was with them. Ed got a plant, went over to shingle mill. Mary Roloson came in pm Arthur went to Mr. Lafevers and sawed out a churn cover then went to beaver Dams with Ed and got coffee in pm. Arthur took Pa’s horse home and went over to Mart’s and got his horse.
Sunday April 5
Pleasant but cold wind Will’s and Ed’s came over to get Mary to take her home. We went to church, all of us. Mr. Kellogg preached. The boys went to Christian Endevor afoot in eve Annie and I staid home.
Monday April 6
Pleasant but cold Washed and done usual work. Arthur went and helped Isaac saw wood in am, took their mattress and curtain over, drew manure out in the pm. School commenced again after a week’s vacation for institute. Loren went.

Tuesday April 7
Quite pleasant Baked pies, ironed and usual work. Made two skirts for children, sewed buttons on my calico dress, patched Lorens pants in eve, Anna Arthur’soveralls. Arthur helped Isaac saw woood in am. In pm drawed out manure and finished plowing the field by the barn Loren went to school Anna called to Mrs. Lafever’s in pm.
Wednesday April 8
Pleasant Patched most of the day Anna cleaned the meal room. Arthur drawed manure and tried to plow but found too much frost and quit and went to Beaver Dams. I went along to Frank’s while he was gone. Got a postal from Hasher? Then came back byEd’s and went up to Isaac’s.




Thursday April 9
Quite warm and pleasant Anna done usual work and baked ginger snaps I went to Allie’s and spent the day. Isaac, Arthur and Ed laid the foundation for their Pa’s monument in am. In the pm Arthur plowed. Loren went to school and to Beaver Dams to prayer meeting in the eve.
Friday April 10
Ground covered with snow in morning, rained at night. Churned, cleaned clothes room and variety of work. Isaac and Hattie were over in pm little while. Arthur sorted little potatoes, fixed fence and chored around. Loren at school.
Saturday April 11
Rained part of the day Done usual Saturday work Made pies, cleaned and cooked The boys run grain through the mill. Arthur went to Beaver Dams at night Anna was going over to stay all night with Eva Mc. But it rained so she gave it up.
Sunday April 12
Not very pleasant Arthur and I went over to Malangth’s to see Mother Moore in am, found her some better. Came back to Moreland to church. Mr. Thompson preached. Anna and Loren went to Beaver Dams afoot. Anna went to Eva Mc. And staid till Christian Endeavor. We went down there and brought her home, and went around by Ed’s and brought Allie home.

Monday April 13
Pleasant and spring like Washed in am. In pm had company, Pa and wife. Arthur finished plowing corn ground Loren went to school and down to post office at night and got a letter from Charley and postal from Mr. Haishen?
Tuesday April 14
Pleasant till pm rained towards night Went over to Allie’s in am Anna ironed and cleaned A man brought the monument and set it. Pa brought it home after they got it set, found Robi and children here. Arthur plowed in am awhile, then hitched up the grey colt and came over there and went to Beaver Dams in pm. He helped with monument.
Wednesday April 15
Quite warm but cloudy Made yeast and cake and cleaned clothes room upstairs. Isaac and Hattie were over awhile in pm. He got 14 bushels of potatoes. Arthur plowed all day. Loren went over to Ed’s in morning, from there to school and took Don.
Thursday April 16
Quite pleasant Done variety of work in am In pm had company, Mr. Sayler and Lulu. Arthur plowed, Loren went to school.
Friday April 17
Warm pleasant day Cleaned the large room upstairs and done usual work. Pa called on his way to Watkins and on his way back. I let him have $40.00 and he let me have the rest. He is going to pay for the monument for me,and take a grist to mill for us to Corning tomorrow if it don’t rain. I let them have a small pail of flour. Arthur plowed in the am In the pm dragged by the barn He went to Beaver Dams in pm with Pa.




Saturday April 18
Warm Had thundershowers in pm Done usual Saturday work. I started for Beaver Dams afoot but got a ride part way with Deacon Sayler. Went to Ed’s to dinner and to Will’s to supper Geo and Nan were out, also called to Pa’s both ways. He went to Corning to mill for us and also paid Haischer. The boys came down and got the grist and brought me home at night

Sunday April 19
Warm and pleasant Went to Moreland to church, Mr. Kellogg preached. Went to Christian Endeavor to Beaver Dams in eve. Isaac and Hattie were over. Isaac went to church with us.
Monday April 20
Pleasant but cold wind Washed and usual work. Arthur drilled in barley. Anna went over to Allie’s and stayed all night. Loren went to school. Ed came there and got him to help[him dig raspberry sets in pm.
Tuesday April 21
Pleasant, white frost in morning. Churned, ironed, usual work. Anna came home from Allie’s and brought Don in am. Arthur finished drilling the barley and went and took drill home and got Mart’s horse shod, then rolled. Arthur plowed after he got done rolling, and drawed manure in the garden. Loren went to school I called to Mr. Lafever’s after supper.







Wednesday April 22
Warm and pleasant with thundershowers, went around most, did not rain much here. Baked cake and ginger snaps, cleaned my bedroom. Arthur plowed the garden before breakfast, then plowed on the hill, the oat ground. Loren cleaned dooryard, went to school, took Don home. Went to B. Dafton after supper to have a tooth drawn. Arthur went down in front of Lafever’s to sow some grass seed. Anna cleaned the dooryard awhile
Thursday April 23
Quite pleasant, had some rain in am Done usual work, finished cleaning up stairs. Filled two straw beds, got the beds put up upstairs, but did not get all straightened Arthur finished plowing his oat ground and then dragged a little. Mart came and got his horse. Aaron and Mo Mowery were over to see it at noon. Loren helped Isaac plant potatoes. Arthur went over to Ed’s in evening.

Friday April 24
Rained a little in morning but it cleared up. It was a cold wind. Cleaned up the sitting room, finishing straighting chamber, put down stair carpet, Anna washed it. Mrs. Lee was here. Arthur went to Monterey to have horses shod then dragged with colt. Dragged the garden then went to Beaver Dam in evening. I got sugar. I went along to see Pa, he was sick, found him better. Isaac was over twice today, he was about sick. He came in the pm and got oats. Anna went home with him. They drawed a load of hay from the old house with his team. Charley Lee sent bags to have barley put up.

Saturday April 25
Quite pleasant but cold wind Churned and usual work, done a lot of patching. Anna came home from Isaac’s in am. Arthur dragged and drew some stone. Loren fixed fence and wheeled out manure, he went over to Isaac’s and stayed all night. Arthur went to Beaver Dams in eve., got 10lbs more sugar. Charley Lee got his barley
Sunday April 26
Pleasant but cold wind Went to Moreland to Baptist church, Thompson preached. Loren came home from Isaac’s, he had his hair cut. Loren and Annie went to Christian Endeavor in eve afoot. Arthur and I staid home.
Monday April 27
Pleasant and warm Washed and done usual work in am. Arthur drilled with Isaac’s team and Loren dragged with ours. A man called to ask if we had potatoes to sell. I ironed in pm.







Tuesday April 28
Pleasant or quite so, but cold again Done usual housework, made beeswax and cleaned. Anna cleaned parlor bedroom. Allie and the children were over in pm, went back on the railroad. I went a ways with them. Ed came after them after they had gone. Arthur rolled the oat field and dragged some and picked stone. Loren took Isaac’s team home in morn, then wheeled manure. Worked in garden, planted out first potatoes in garden. Arthur went to Beaver Dams in eve.
Wednesday April 29
Pleasant, warmer, very dry. Caked my beeswax, done variety of work. Sewed on my drawers in pm. Anna went to Beaver Dams in pm, calling and staying all night to Ed Moore’s. Frank was over in the am and got some berry plants. Arthur dragged, went and got Frank’s cultivator to use in pm. Loren spread manure, I sowed lettuce.
Thursday April 30
Pleasant and dry Made soap, baked bread, churned. Commenced cleaning the parlor. Pa brought Anna home. Arthur dragged and sowed some. Intended to get done but had to go help Saylor’s fight fire so did not get done. Loren dragged, fixed fence. John Cornell died at 5 O’clock pm

Sunday March 1
Cold At home all day. Will Tucker’s folks here Arthur took his Granma over to Aaron’s Came back by Ed’s and got Minnie and children Arthur and Annie went to Moreland Minnie and Garth? Went along. I took care of the children They went to Beaver Dams to Christian Endeavor in eve Went to Allie’s and took Will’s folks over there Loren was sick.
Monday March 2
Cold 4 degrees below zero this am Washed and done usual work Arthur took Minnie to train and she went home Isac and Arthur went up on the hill and got a load of hay for Curry in pm
Tuesday March 3
Cold snow fine Baked pies and cleaned up for company. Mrs. Sherman and Cynthia and Mrs. Thompkins. The boys drew hay off the hill to Beaver Dams, then went and took our company home and took pork to Will. Loren went along to get a pair of boots. Con Culver called to see Cynthia. Loren sick and did not go to school.
Wednesday March 4
Cold blustery Done usual work and ironed. Melvin Roloson folks were here. Arthur picked up potatoes. Isaac worked at hay rigging. Ed Anthony called. Loren did not feel as well as he did yesterday.
Thursday March 5
Cold blustery in am Done usual work, made cookies and ginger snaps. Annie went to Pa’s with Isaac when he went to blacksmiths and Hattie to Allie’s. Isaac wet and took bearers to old Mrs. Lafever’s funeral. Arthur went to mill with buckwheat in am, in pm chored around home; trimmed grape vines and put boxes on bee hives Loren went to school but might better have staid home for he came home worse.
Friday March 6
Cold but pleasant Washed diapers and baby clothes and done usual work. Went over to Allie’s in pm Arthur took sawlogs to Rhode’s and then went to Beaver Dams and got Anna in am In pm helped Ed build a woodhouse Isaac went to Will Sayler’s Arthur and Annie went to Lafever’s in eve Loren home all day.

Saturday March 7
Warmer Done usual Saturday work, baked bread, cleaned down cellar Arthur took 2 bushels of potatoes to Watkins and got horses shod. Isaac went over to Beaver Dams. In the eve Isaac, Arthur and Iwent to Beaver Dams’ I went to Aaron’s, the boys took pork to Will, 9lb, have not graded it out yet
Sunday March 8
Thawey, but cold wind We all went to church, Isaac and Hattie to Beaver Dams. Isaac stayed to Frank’s and took care of the baby and let Hattie go to church. Kellogg preached to Moreland It rained at night so the children did not go to Christian Endeavor. Mr. Upson and Cal C. rode with us to church.



Monday March 9
Rained most of the day and very hard towards night. Washed and usual work, also churned. Loren went to school. Ed came over in the pm, he and Isaac fixed the appraisal papers and went to Beaver Dams with them. Arthur chored around home all day. Isaac went toLafever’s in pm. John Stevens was over to get ? to take a load of goods to Corning.
Tuesday March 10
Pleasant Hung up the clothes, ironed some and done usual house work.Isaac and Arthur went over to Bronson’s in am then down to BeaverDams and got my share of the groceries, then came home and went to Vendue. I went along to Mrs. Upson’s and called to Nettie Saylor’s.
Wednesday March 11
Pleasant done usual work, finished ironing. I went over to Robi’s and staid all day. Walked over. The boys took John Stevens goods to Corning, I rode home with them. Arthur and Annie went to Mr. Lafever’s in the eve awhile. They had a lot of young folks there from Townsend. Pa started to come over here but found me to Frank’s and staid there.
Thursday March 12
Rained all day Done usual work and mended. Intended to go to Mr Baley’s but it rained so we did not go. Isaac was to Beaver Dams most of the day and the boys all went over at night. Loren went to prayer meeting, but there was none. Isaac got a lot of things to begin keeping house. Arthur chored around and read. The spotted cow came in.
Friday March 13
Rainey My birthday, 46. Done usual work, made yeast. Hattie washed. Isaac went to Mallory’s after his rake, then he and the boys went to Beaver Dams and us wimenfolks all went along to Will’s. Annie went up to Ed’s from the corner when we came home to stay all night.
Saturday March 14
Very windy and blustery Done usual Saturday work Isaac moved three loads, Arthur sawed wood and helped Isaac. Anna came home from Ed’s in pm.
Sunday March 15
Cold wind Went to Moreland to Baptist church. Went to Beaver Dams to Christian Endeavor with Annie and Loren. Arthur went to Moreland.
Monday March 16
Cold Washed a large washing, the Arthur and I went to Melanthon’s to see mother Moore and staid all night. Isaac and Arthur went over to cut wood for Isaac in am In pm Isaac went to Watkins with Ed to mill. Arthur went and had colt shod.
Tuesday March 17
Pleasant but cold Annie baked pies & cake& variety. Came home from Melanthon’s in morning Ed and allie and family were here and Pa and Frank. They took the inventory. Nate Cleveland and Rev. Mr. Kellogg called. A fellar staid all night. Loren and Isaac went to Beaver Dams in eve, got me some sugar, spilled part of it 1lb 5oz
Wednesday March 18
Pleasant Baked bisquit and done a variety of work. Perry Gaylord’s were here visiting. Walter Wasson was here and staid all night. He and the children all went to Beaver Dams to a supper. The boys drew wood for Isaac in the am.

Thursday March 19
Pleasant but cold wind. Done up our morning work then went up to Mr. Bailey’s visiting. Hattie went over to Pa’s but they were not home so she went over to Will’s. Isaacdrew hay for Bronsons and took over a load of goods. Loren went to school and to prayer meeting in eve. Elmer Rhodes and Mate were here in evening.

Friday March 20
Rainey. Finished the ironing and .usual work. Hattie washed her clothes. I had a present of a house cover. The boys chored around. Isaac packed some, then went to Beaver Dams in pm.
Saturday March 21
Rained in pm done usual work.. Went to Moreland in pm to prepatory lecture. Loren joind. Minnie came up, got here to dinner. George brought barley up and changed Minnie staid all night
Sunday March 22
Damp day Rained in eve. Went to Moreland to church and communion Loren was baptized Allie and Don came over and went with us. George came after Minnie and went to Beaver Dams to quarterly meeting.
Monday March 23
Rainey Washed and usual work. Hattie and Isaac went over to their house in pm Arthur went up on the hill and sold the hay and got the old buggy and bought our grass seed Sent a letter to Charley and to Argus Co.
Tuesday March 24
Rained a little in am but cleared up at night I went with Ma down to the train and got 500lbs of coal and helped Isaac move over some goods. Don came over at night. Went on the D.L.W. to Avoca. Mit met us there. Dreadful muddy
Wednesday March 25
Real Pleasant I went over with Isaac’s last load and helped him saw some wood in the am In the pm they went over for good and I drawed up straw. I took dinner to Ed’s. Pa’s folks and I went down to Jim’s, it was Uncle Ben’s 80th birthday.
Thursday March 26
Real pleasant I drew out manure up on the hill in the am. In the pm Loren came home and we finished drawing the straw in the barn and then I went down and got my shingles at the mill. In the eve I went down to Beaver Dams and Leon came over. Mit’s in am and Mr. Edwards in pm

Friday March 27
To Mit’s in am In the Pm Pa and I went down to Jims, came back about 9 0’clock Arthur drew out manure, went to sugar party at night to Perry Gaylord’s Loren went to Ed’s and stayed all night.
Saturday March 28
Pleasant Came home from Avoca, went to see Peter Fero Arthur drew manure Loren boiled down some sap


Sunday March 29
Pleasant but cold wind Went to Mrs. Ben Clark’s funeral and to Beaver Dams to Christian Endeavor in eve Isaac and Hattie were over a few minutes
Monday March 30
Pleasant Washed in am and churned and usual work Arthur drew out manure and plowed Loren boiled sap Isaac came and got his cow in am and some lard. In pm he came and got corn and barley to take to mill. Mr. and Mrs. Thayer called with subscription for Rev. Mr. Kellogg. Signed $10.00 to be paid in fall.
Charley Allen called and stayed to tea Ed Anthony sowed grass seed on wheat and rye.
Tuesday March 31
Snowed in pm Done usual work and ironed Isaac came over after his hens and Anna went home with him. Arthur plowed in am In pm he put up a grist and tok corn out of the crib. Loren fixed fence and chored around at a variety of things.

Quite warm Done a large washing, Mrs. Upson helped Isaac went and got her and then went to Townsend and got his wagon and took Mrs Upson home Again Arthur and Loren went to wood bee to Beaver Dams in pm Will Lafever here in eve
Tues February 3
Rainy, turned colder Baked and ironed some and usual work It rained quite hard Arthur threshed beans and cut wood Isaac went to Beaver Dams in pm Had one calling, a Mr. Thompkins, trying to get up a lodge Leon called Tended baby, it was awful cross
Wednesday February 4
Cold day I finished sawing up what wood we had, drawed up in the am In the pm Loren and I went down to the Dams Ma and Anna ironed Mrs. Lafever called
Thursday February 5
Cold and windy Baked bread and cake and usual work Changed Hattie’s clothes and bed, she sat up for the first Pa’s folks were over Anna went up to Mrs. Harwood’s to Missionary Meeting Arthur took her when he got back from drawing a load of shingle bolts.
Friday February 6
Warm Washed, baked ginger snaps and usual work Boys went up on hill and got Isaac’s mowing machine in am In pm Isaac went to Watkins Arthur drawed up wood Agnes, Dora, Mate, called and Carrie and Alma

Mderate, snowed hard Baked cookies and done usual Saturday work, ironed Boys cut wood Melacthon and Vine were here Had a hard snowstorm
Sunday February 8
Quite moderate Changed Hattie’s beds and clothes Washed and dressed the baby, done usual Sunday work then went to SS to our church. Expected to hear our new minister but he did not come Arthur, Anna and Loren went to Y.P.S.C.E. (Young People’s ? Christian Endeavor?)

Monday February 9
Stormy Washed and usual work Arthur went to Beaver Dams and to Ed’s in am Isaac went and had horse shod in pm Arthur washed off the single harness
Tuesday February 10
Cold Hung up clothes and usual work Allie and children were over and Dana and Mrs. Lafever in eve Arthur oiled his harness and Isaac went to town meeting
Wednesday February 11
Pleasant Baked bread and cake sprinkled clothes and c? Hattie put on her dress for the first Isaac and Arthur went to Beaver Dam and hitched up the colt and drove around the square Annie and Arthur went down to Minnie’s at night


Thursday February 12
Pleasant Done usual work Ironed some in evening Anna and Arthur come home from Minnie’s George was here to dinner, he took a load of logs Rhodese’. Isaac went to Rhodese’s to get timber for hay rigging In the pm the Sagler women called while the men went to creamery meeting Arthur went with them Hattie sat up most of the day Robi was over in the pm Frank come after her and staid for supper
Friday February 13
Quite Pleasant Baked pies and cake and finished ironing. Washed and ironed diapers. The boys went to Beaver Dams in pm, drove the colt. Arthur and Anna went to Culver’s in the eve to necktie partie. Arthur drawed up wood.
Saturday February 14
Pleasant but cold Done usual Saturday work. Leh? Stevens was here visiting. The boys went to Beaver Dams in am. In pm sat in the house most of the time.
Sunday February 15
Rained and thawed in the night Isaac and I went to Beaver Dams to Church, the other children to Moreland. Geo and Van came and staid all night. Loren went to C.E.
Monday February 16
Rainy and foggy Done housework, baked a cake. George’s and Aaron’s were here, also Mart and Ed called.
Tuesday February 17
Washed, baked and c&c .Hattie begun to help some. The boys cleaned up wheat and Arthur went to Beaver Dams in am. In the pm drawed manure. The Culver young folks were here in the eve.
Wednesday February 18
Thawing and windy Washed the woolen clothes, hung up the white ones. Baked a cake and usual work. Hattie ironed diapers. Isaac drawed manure, went and got some coal, then worked at wood. Ed Anthony came over and brought the will, then he and Isaac went and took it to Watkins.
Thursday February 19
Pleasant Ironed, churned and cleaned, or the girls did. I went over to Frank’s then to Pa’s, then went to prayer meeting in eve. Isaac went down to Minnie’s to serve papers on her to attend the reading of her Pa’s will. Arthur drawed wood. He and Loren came over to prayer meeting after me.
Friday February 20
Stormy in the am Anna baked pies and ginger snaps. I washed diapers and cleaned. Arthur went over to Ed’s in am, in pm went to mill with feed. Isaac went to Beaver Dams, Loren to school. The children went to Mr. Thompkins in the eve.
Saturday February 21
Thawed, rained some. Done usual Saturday cleaning, ironed. The boys cut and drawed shingle timber and wood. Arthur took me over to Ed’s, staid all night.
Sunday February 22
Cold wind Ed brought me home in time to go to Moreland to church Mr. Kellogg preached his first sermon. The children, Arthur, Annie and Loren went to Beaver Dams
To Christian Endeavor in eve


Monday February 23
Pleasant but quite cold Anna and I washed, Hattie done other work. The boys went up on the hill and got a load of hay for Mr. Burns, then sawed shingle bolts.
Tuesday February 24
Warm and thawing Baked bread, ironed, usual work in am. In the pm Hattie and I went down to Mr. Lafever’s. Isaac took us, it was the baby’s first ride. In the am the boys went up on the hill and got a load of hay for Mr. Burns. In the pm sawed shingle bolts. Loren went to school and to Allie’s and stayed all night.
Wednesday February 25
Rained in morning Done usual housework, baked pies and jelly cake. In pm patched. Annie went over to Allie’s afoot. Isaac went over to Ed’s and to Beaver Dams in am. Arthur fixed bee hives. They sawed wood in pm. Melangthon and Vine called towards night.
Thursday February 26
Cold and snow squalls Done usual work, had compant; Henry Gray and wife, Mary Alisa, Vine and Melanghton called again and brought Mother Moore, she staid all night. The boys sawed wood and went to Beaver Dams and got the mail. Loren went to school and to prayer meeting in eve. Mrs. Ostrander was buried.
Friday February 27
Cold, squally Washed diapers, baked pies, cake and cleaned. Arthur split wood, Isaac went to Will Sayler’s and Beaver Dams twice. Charley came on the noon train. Minnie and George came at night.
Saturday February 28
Cold and blustery Went to Watkins to hear the will read. Minnie went with us and Mr. Thompkins. Allie and Ed came here to dinner, then took Minnie and children home with them. Charley went back on night train. Darth came here in am.

I stayed home all day and made a sawbrick and drawed up a little wood. Isaac was down to Beaver Dams

Friday January 2
We sawed some wood in the am Isaac started with a load of bark and got stuck and we had to unload it Carrie Culver and Della Pachen were here Thawed all night and all day, rained a little

Saturday January 3
Isaac & Arthur went and helped shovel the road towards Beaver Dams in morning, then Arhtur came home and got ready and went to Dundee on the noon train Isaac, Ed, and Frank Coger went to Caitlin in the Pm. I went along to Allie’s Cold

Sunday January 4
Annie, Loren and I went to Moreland to church & Sunday School; Mr. Thompson preached Annie & Loren went to Christian Endeavor in eve, came back by Ed’s and brought Allie home

Monday January 5
Washed and done usual housework Handed? A pair of mittens for Loren Isaac loaded a load of bark and took it as far as Beaver Dams Ed was over in the pm Arthur came home on the pm train from Dundee

Tuesday January 6

Cold and pleasant Done usual work Hattie made cookies Arthur went over to Ed’s awhile in am then came home and took Anna and I up to Mr. Wm Saylor’s visiting Arthur and Loren came up after us and stayed awhile in the evening Isaac went to Beaver Dams in morning then came back and drove up to Mr. Bronson’s Hattie rode along Isaac and Arthur worked in the woods in pm Loren went to school

Quite cold I took Anna over to Ed’s and then went down to Beaver Dams and came back and staid there till night the rest were home all day Uncle Aaron’s called about night Don came home and staid all night John Tracey buried

Warm Done usual work, patched Ed, Allie and children came over in am Ed helped the boys saw shingle bolts Arthur and Annie came home in the pm Dr. Seaman and Mrs. LaFever here in the eve. Arthur went over to Ed’s and staid all night

Thurs 12/1
Pleasant-but a cold wind. I went to Arsa Breece’s funeral and served as one of the pall bearers. Old Mr. Breece buried at Hornellsville

Fri 12/2
Cold southeast wind. I went and drawed a load of corn for Mr. Weller from Ed’s barn with Ed’s team, then went to see james about helping butcher tomorrow. Found him to Frank’s. Charley nd Annie when I came home.

Sat 12/3
James and Alida here today helping butcher. Jason came to inform us of Lucy Clark’s death.Then I went to Melvin’s and to Frank’s. Ed Moore is here avisiting. Very muddy.

Sun 12/4
I went to Lucy Clark/s funeral in the planes? In the new church. James and Alida went also. Very muddy, rain just morning.

Mon 12/5
Home all day and done chores.Colder and the ground froze again.

Tues 12/6
Frank’s folks called here on their way to Gene Bennett’s and I went along to see Daniel Gardner. Found him some better and about again. I called to Gene’s aspell. The roads quite ruff.

Wed 12/7
Home all day, done chores as usual and not very well, but fixed the sheep shed.

Thurs 12/8
Weather mild. I cleaned the pork barrel and done chores as usual. After noon U went to Wm. Stevens’s, and to the store and post office. Fred Lee came home with me and stayed all night.

Fri 12/9
A fine day, I done chores. After noon went up to see Albert and found him very sick and not so well today. I went up across through the woods. I salted my side pork on the top of Ed’s and put the old pork on it.

Sat 12/10
Cleaned and put 7 bushels of oats in box and barrel for Kit, making 9 in all for me. Rainy day. Arthur came up and stayed all night.



Sun 12/11
We all went to Beaver Dams to church. I rode down with Arthur and went over to Frank’s and found Rhobia sick and rode home with Ed from Aaron’s. warm day and roads very muddy.

Mon12/12ery muddy I went to mill with Ed’s team, took 2 bags of buckwheat and 4 of feed and left it to Beecher’s mill. Then went to see Robia and found her a little better. Getting colder

Tues 12/13
Fine day I went to see Albert and dound him some better. Then went down to see George and Minnie. Went afoot and stayed there all night. We drawed a load of hay from the lower barn today.

Wed 12/14
Came home from George’s across the fields and woods, got home at 11:00 a fine day. Ed and Mart went to Monterey, he got his new clothes from P. Sharp’s.

Thur 12/15
Home all day put the first wood in the woodhouse. Morris Preasant here to dinner. I bought a set of tea spoons for Carrie Colger. Allie got a pickle fork. I went up to Ben’s in the evening.

Fri 12/16
Colder I done chores as usual. After noon I went to see Robia found her some better. Then I went to a literary entertainment at the church and came home afoot. Roads hard and very rough.

Sat 12/17
Home alone all day. And went to the grange at night. Elected new officers. Ed went to get his horses shod and Allie went home. They had a bee to cut wood for the Beaver Dams church in North woods. Snow at night. I went to Frank’s and stayed all night. Old Mrs. Ham died.

Sun 12/18
Came from Frank’s to church and came home afoot. Snow 3 or 4 inches deep and roads very rough.

Mon 12/19
Fine day. I went to old Mrs. Ham’s funeral and served as one of the pall bearers.

Tues 12/20
I went to Monterey and got my new clothes from Sharp’s, and paid my tax and had Kit shod at Bennett’s. Snow again at night.

Wed 12/21Home alone all day. Ed and Allie went to Eddie Saylor’s wedding. Sleighing fine. George came and got Jameses bob sleigh. Annie came home with Ed and Allie tonight.

Thur 12/22
Home all day and done chores. Ed Moore called to sell butter. Frank and George Wilover here. I took Annie home and stayed all night. Sleighing fine.

Fri 12/23
I came home from Jameses to Beaver Dams and traded butter with Winfield. Fine day Goerge Moore and wife drove in here

Sat 12/24
Home alone. Ed and Allie gone to Mr. Rolason’s – The Moore family all meets there today.

Sun 12/25
I went to Beaver Dams to church. After church took Isaac Moore over home, drove Kit to new cutter. George and Minnie there over Jameses I went to Frank’s and stayed all night but left Kit to James’s. Sleighing fine. Ed and Aliie went over to Mr. Anthony’s.

Mon 12/26
I and Isaac went to Corning on the train and he went back to Avoca. I came back at night and went to the Christmas Tree at church. I went home with James folks and stayed all night. I got a diary and new overshoes for me, and buff buttons and pin for Carrie Hall. A pin for alida Olmsted and a pocket organ for Iva.

Tues 12/27
Beautiful day, sleighing fine. I come home and Arthur come along. James and alida came here and James and I went up to see Albert, found him very sick. Edand Allie went up to Mart’s this evening. Mrs. Ellis died last night.

Wed 12/28
Squally day but mild. After noon I went to Mrs. Lee’s and got the ? with the cutter. It turned cold just at night.

Thurs 12/29
I went to Mrs. Ellis’s funeral and served as one of the pall bearers. Awfully cold and blustery day. James carried the bearers, Taylor preached and she was buried at Townsend. I went home with James and stayed all night. Mr. Beers house burnt at night.

Fri 12/30
Cold day. I come home, called to Frank’s aspell and also at Beaver Dams. Rode up on bob sled with Aaron Moore Elder Carnes moving to Monterey.

I went to Penn Yan to make a report and to settle with Farmer’s Reliance insurance co.

Tues November 1 Ed took one load of apples to the Depot, and I took 4 loads making 60 barrels today from here. Pleasant but a cold wind.
Wed November 2 Fine day I drawed two loads of apples from here making 80 barrels from here then drawed two loads for Ed from his place By 11:00 took dinner to Mr.Anthony’s then Ed drawed two loads and settled with Hendrick for the apples 80 from here and 70 from his place.
Thur November 3 I went to mill took a bag of buckwheat to Beechers got 52 of flour and 16 of shorts Ed drawed corn stalks for Homer Crout? Charley came here tonight
Fri November 4 We cleaned up buckwheat and Ed took one load to Beaver Dams and Charley went along home then I and Ed cleaned another load and put up 18 bags more making 37 bags in all for this time
Sat November 5 Ed went to Beaver Dams making 18 bags of Bwheat making in all 37 bags sold to Smith at 52cents 90 bushels plus 10lbs $46.90 I went to the grange afoot at night and got coffee
Sun November 6 Fine day I and Ed went to Beaver Dams to church and heard the new preacher Mr Newkirk? For the first time Drove Kit to buggy
Mon November 7 Ed and Allie went to Jamses I plowed with Kit and Ed’s horse Mart paid Ed for seed buckwheat that he owed me and Ed paid for what he sowed on his place I put two bushels of oats in the feed box for Kit for the first of new oats

Tues November 8 I plowed in the fore noon with Kit and Ed’s horse After noon I went to election Ed went along I drove Kit to the buggy fine day

Wed November 9 Ed went to Watkins to mill got the wheat to Frank’s Took a crock of butter to Erwin’s 30lbs Alida Moore came home with him at night I done the chores but could scarcely get around with a lame side had a muster plaster on all day
Thur November 10 Rainy morning Ed and Allie went to Corning I took them to the train and drove over to Jamses then came home and I and Alida kept house cold chilly wind with some rain
Fri November 11 Cold and the ground covered with snow I done the chores but could scarcely get around with a lame side and wore a mustard plaster all dayJames came up at night and helped me do the chores
Sat November 12 James helped me do the chores then took Ed’s team and took his sheep home and brought Ed and Allie home from the noon train Charley Lee came here and bought Ed’s cow and my two year old heifer James took Alida home tonight
Sun November 13 Pleasant day Ed and Allie went down to Duane’s and I went along but took dinner at his father’s The snow about gone and the road muddy
Mon November 14 Ed commenced school here today Charley Lee came and got Ed’s cow and my heifer I done the chores but am very lame
Tues November 15 Lowry day I done chores I done chores and went over to see Mrs. Ellis found her very feeble and confined to her bed then went up to Ben’s found him quite feeble but about The snow gone and quite muddy but colder tonight

Fri November 18 The ground white with snow in morning but soon left I bought a ring of Morris Presant then went to Beaver Dams and got the mail We all went to a pound party for Elder Nankirk? At night cold wind James and Alida started for Avoca today
Sat November 19 Ed went toKendall’s and I went to see Albert Fero found him very sick cold north wind today After noon Ed and I went to Monterey to see Sharp but he had gone away A little snow tonight
Sun November 20 Frank come to tell us that Uncle Henry Fero was dead and started for Peter’s but met him on the way and then called to see Albert and found him very sick and then called to see Uncle Abram and found him very feeble Then went to see George Bennett and old Mr. Northrup very cold but wheeling fine Uncle Henry Fero died this morning
Mon November 21 I took the clothes to Mrs. Lee’s to be washed then went to Frank’s John Flury? There and family Then I and Frank went over to his mother’s aspell and I called to Jamses but no one home but Annie Come home just night
Tues November 22 I went to Uncle Henry Fero’s funeral Mr Vankirk? Preached had a large turnout fine day but a cold wind wheeling fine I went to Jamses to dinner Charley came home today and he and Ed Northrup called here today


Wed November 23 Home all day with a lame side, it pains me so can’t sleep at night but little and just get around by day mild and smoky day I picked up a few apples for Kit and done a few chores

Thur November 24 Dark and dreary day. Last night I had a tough time of it I had such pain in my side that made me scream out most all night I turned every way but I could get no rest until I went to get up and fainted away Then I was easy till I came to and then it pained as bad as ever rainy tonight
Fri November 25 Lowry with some rain I can just get around with a lame side and can’t rest at night James come up and brought us some fresh pork 102 3/4lbs
Sat November 26 I and Ed went to Monterey and had the stove lined and had Sharp measure us both for new clothes mild and muddy George Holden here. Isaac and Minnie come here aspell also Roy and Mate Weller here in the evening
Sun November 27 Ed and Allie went to Mr. Anthony’s and to Jamses I went to Beaver Dams to Church and to Jamses aspell then come home and went up to see Albert Fero found him very sick but they thought he was a little better
Mon November 28 I took my boots to Crouts and left them to be taped. The ground white with snow this morning Ed turned the Buck with the sheep tonight
Tues November 29 Cold wind and ground froze. I went over to see Mrs. Ellis and found her very low and did not go in her room to see her
Wed Nov 30 Cold morning We all went to Mr. Anthony’s to attend wedding Carrie and Frank Colger were married this morning and took the train for Pennsylvania We stayed and made a visit Old Mr. Breece died last night

Mit took Isaac’s goods to Avoca and I went along The painter’s there today at work in his room I went back with Mit and stayed there all night

I and Ett went to Avoca and Ed mapped out Isaac’s rooms Isaac helped and went home with us at night It was dark as pitch going through the woods and rained most of the way

Wed October 5
I and Isaac went to Avoca and got new carpet for his front room and he and Alida and Ett made it mostly that night

Thurs October 6
Isaac and Alida went to Avoca and put down his carpet He stayed there and Alida drove the horse home

Fri October 7
I started from Mit’s for home Walked to Avoca then stopped withIsaac and saw his front room which he had got arranged very nice and expected to start up next week I took the train there at about noon and got to Corning in about 30 minutes and made Charley a visit and left there about 5:40 Went to Frank’s and stayed all night Walked home the next day

Got home from Avoca this morning found Fred Lee here to work and Carrie Anthony and Erwin’s wife here and I took her to the train at night then I took some chestnuts to Jamses and stayed there all night

Come home this morning Ed Allie and Carrie went to see Minnie I stayed home alone after noon rainy

Mon October 10
Ed and Fred helped James thrash After noon I and Allie went to Jamses and come home in the rain Ed brought some furniture up here and got wet



Tues October 11
Home all day and done chores Ed went to Watkins to Mill and got home before night and we finished up potatoes colder tonight

Wed October 12
Ed and Fred dug potatoes and finished I helped pick them up cold wind

Thur October 13
I went to Jamses and got mail at Post Office Ed and Fred drawed the buckwheat and I helped mow away part and then we built a stack and covered it with boards Ed went to the Dams and picked up 35 apple barrels at night

Fri October 14
Ed and Fred barreled apples at his place I done the chores and helped Allie after nooon I went up to see Uncle Abram found him very feeble but about the house Came back across where George was drawing Buckwheat on the Breece place Cold wind

Ed and Fred barreled apples here today had a freeze last night I went to Watkins and to Havana, had the grange property insured for one year and paid for Havana Journal for Ett $1.50 took supper to Jamses and went to the grange Annie and Seal here tonight Isaac went up toMart’s

Home alone today. Isaac called here and they all went to Moreland to church. John Strong and Matt got tipped over and had a smashup with John’s horse and buggy and left the horse here and took Kit to Watkins

Mon October 17
Ed and Fred drawed corn at his place and brought back two pigs from Charley Stevenses I done the chores and put wood in the woodhouse John Fero brought Kit home and got his horse

Tues October 18
Home and done chores and got ready for the thrashers After noon Ed and I went up to ? to see the thrashers and then to Mart’s then Ed went to Jamses and brought Seal here.

Wed October 19
Fine day D. Rodgers commenced thrashing here after dinner James Aaron Mart John Croshury? Duane and Fred helped Charley Moore came here with James and stayed all night

Thur October 20
Finished thrashing half past 8am had buckwheat 100, oats 185. Charley went home with James After noon put the straw back in the barn
Fri October 21
Ed down at his place I done the chores as usual and after noon went to Isaac’s but he had gone to the plains. At night I took Carrie to Mrs. Phelp’s and then I went to Moxie’s to what they call a New England supper. But I come home without supper in a snow squall

Sat October 22
Ed helped Duane thrash. I helped Allie in the forenoon. After noon went to Will Saylor’s vendue? Cold wind and ground covered with snow in places I went to J.C.? Bucher’s on the way home

Sun October 23
Home alone today and also at night. I guess Ed and Allie went to his father’s today and to Leroy Miller’s at night I went up to Ben’s aspell and stayed to dinner for the first time in over 20 years

Mon October 24
I went to Johnson Beecher’s and left my horse there and he took his team and we went to Daniel Clark’s and found Lucy very sick and her father just able to walk out Melachon come to Corning and took $500 out of the bank for J.C Bucher’s of money belonging to the knowlton estate and took his note and R. L? Bucher’s for it and left the note with me. Got home after dark cold windy day

I took Allie up to Ben’s and then went to John Vosburg’s? and paid my school bill. Then went down to Frank’s to dinner and went to Jamses aspell and then went after Allie and done the chores at night

Wed October 26
Charley and Annie went to Avoca. Arthur brought Old Flora up here for me to use and I commenced plowing the Buckwheat stubble in the school house lot this after noon

Thur October 27
I plowed alittle while in the morning until it rained After noon I plowed some

Fri October 28
I and Ed fixed the hog pen then I went to plowing and done quite a days work. Picked apples for the horses at noon and for the hogs at night Carrie’s school out today

I plowed in the fore noon and finished the South half at 2 and then got ready and took Flora home and stayed all night Ed worked at his place all the weed?

Went from Jamses to Frank’s and stayed till night and rode Kit home. Cold night. George and Minnie to Jameses today Charley and Anna home from Avoca

Ed went and got 40 more barrels this morning and we filled them with apples Mart and Orva Hendrick helped in the afternoon. I took a tub of butter to depot for F. Horton, 54 lbs, and Hendrick rode up with me. Adie washed here today.

Alida went home today and I felt bad to part with her and think that I am left alone where I once had a pleasant home. But all looks dark and lonely now Alida went with Isaac Moore and Duane & Ellie Cornue with Mit’s team After noon I went to F. Underwoods to see them thrash Ed cutting his buckwheat on his place

Cool day I went up to Ben’s aspell and done chores but could scarcely get around with a lame hip Ed went to work on his place and took Carrie home

Ed worked at his place Robia and the children come up in the forenoon and picked some chestnuts Alida Moore brought the Putman girls here with James’ team and went home alone I took them up to Mart’s with James’ team

I went on the cars to Bath fair At night went with Mit and Dan to Wallace on the train and rode up with D. Edwards

At Mit’s today Isaac and Duane and Ellie and Alida went to Bath to the fair and show at night I went to see old Mr. Edwards aspell, found him quite sharp

Mon August 1
Mit finished haying today. I called to see Uncle Sauly Edwards and I and Alida went to Jerry’s a spell in the evening.

Tues August 2
Alida sick today-very warm. After noon I went down to Jim Olmsted’s aspell. And at night went with Mit to Wallace. There was a horse trot to Avoca today.

Wed August 3
Warm day I went to see Mr. Edwards and called to Jerry’s to dinner. After noon Sal came to Mit’s and I went across the road with him aspell.

Thurs August 4
I and Alida came home from Mit’s- a very warm day. Had one shoe set on Kit and drove home without feeding. Got home about 5 o’clock and found the house shut up and all gone away.

Fri August 5
Rainy before noon. After noon I went and took Charley Smith’s application for insurance to the Farmer’s Reliance to amount $950 percent 95cents.

Sat August 6
Lowry morning Ed and Allie went to Erwin’s and Mrs. Holden went along to Mr. Anthony’s. I went along to Beaver Dams and had one show set on Kit and then came home and done chores.

I and Alida home all day and done the chores. Ed and Allie gone to Watkins they came home at night/

Mon Aug 8
Fine day and quite cool. Ed went and got the reaper. Chet Olmsted and wife came here. Ed and Chet went and got some peaches.

Tues August 9
Fine morning Chester Olmsted and wife started for home. Ed cut the oats on side hill. After noon I went over to see Mrs. Ellis- very warm day, and found her very bad and about discouraged Isaac and Annie went to Avoca today.

Wed August 10
I went and helped James get in 3 bags of oats and I called to see Mr. Shewman and found him very sick Ed went after berries and then to Beaver Dams



Thur August 11
Lowry morning We put up three bags of oats for hog feed and Ed put up 5 bags for horse feed to take to mill and made a hog trough James and Alida came here and James made 2 boxes for Isaac to put pictures in water

Fri August 12
Home all day and not well but done chores as usual Isaac and Annie come here about noon from Avoca and said he had bargained for rooms to take pictures at Avoca Ed turned over oat gavels and raked some

Sat August 13
I raked stone out of the road in fore noon Ed and Aaron drawed the oats of the side hill then Ed and went to ball play at Beaver Dams

Sun August 14
Pleasant day We all went to Jamses I called to Frank’s till after dinner then I and Leon went over All the children home and two young men from Corning there also

Mon August 15
Ed cut oats in the 9 acre lot with the reaper I done chores I went down where Mr. Weller was chopping I and Ed went to Beaver Dams they went to see about getting up a band I went and told Mrs. Lane about her chimney not being safe on her house which was insured in the Farmers Reliance

Tues August 16
I went to Beaver Dams and had the axels fixed to the open buggy Ed and Leroy Weller bound oats in 9 acre lot. Leroy’s wife here

I and Alida went to Beecher’s Grove to picnic Ed finished cutting oats and bound some Leroy Weller helped him today it rained in the night

We took the lambs from the sheep, ten of them Frank’s folks here today and Isaac home here last night

Fri August 19
Isaac here today he and Ed went up to Mart’s in the forenoon In the after noon Ed bound and set up oats I took Isaac home and his box from the depot I called to see Omar Shewman found him no better

Pleasant day Ed bound oats I done chores and set some oats After noon we went to ball play at Beaver Dams The Havana club come up and got beat Allie and Alida went to ? Underwood’s I went to Frank’s to supper and to grange hall but no meeting came home afoot

Rainy day John Vosburg? Here after noon I and Ed went to Beaver Dams, he had 2 shoes set and I got 2 lbs of butter Mrs. Lane and John Hilton married today

Ed went to Watkins to mill James’ folks called here on their way to Ed Moore’s Arthur stayed here and we went up to Ben’s aspell I and Ed took cat? To Shewman’s at night Omar no better and very sick

Warm and lowry day Ed drawed manure on his place I took Allie to Jamses to stay till tomorrow night I come home and took the old Bill sheep from the sheep and done chores Ed went at night to setup with Omar Shewman James started with Isaac and his goods for Avoca to commence business there and all were sad to see him go

I done the chores After noon turned over oats down by the other place Ed helped Duane thrash Come home just night and brought Allie home Mart here tonight Omar Shewman died last night

I ED and Alida went to Omar Shewman’s funeral, had a large turnout I went to Frank’s and stayed all night James come back from Avoca tonight and brought Iva along

I went to Penn Yan from Frank’s to attend meeting of Farmer’s Reliance to adjust the loss of James Law of Big Flats pleasant but cool Ed met me at the train at night Ed finished oat harvest today

Home all day Malcthon Roloson & wife here also George and Minnie and Charley Moore and Hattie Olmstead I took Iva to Frank’s at night My birthday 70 years old today

I went up to Ben’s, Jim Olmsted’s folks there Done chores after noon went to James’ and brought Iva home with me I called to see Mate Smith at Mrs. Phelps Mr. Weller’s folks there Ed down at his place

Helped take the rigging off the wagon Then I and Iva went up to Ben’s Jim’s little girl better Ed went to draw his lumber

At Mit’s all day. Very warm and dry. Mit drawed in his hay, Frank helped. Showers off around but none here.

Very warm and dry. At Mit’s till afternoon then we went to Jim Olmsted’s and stayed till after tea, then went to Mit’s. Showers went around to the southeast. Very warm nights.

I and Mit and Frank went over to Saul’s and I called at Mr. Edwards found Uncle Sauly quite smart. We called to Jerry’s aspell. Then went back to Mit’s for dinner and stayed all night as usual.

We started for home, very warm day. But I got home before 3 o’clock and Frank’s folks went on home.

Tues 7/5
Ed mowed the sidehill back of the barn. I mowed along the fence. Afternoon rainy Ben called here. I and Alida went to Ed McCluskey’s and I went to Frank’s.

Wed 7/6
Warm and lowry. Ed went to Hurd’s and had his horses shod. I went to Jameses and let him have a certificate of $100 on bank at Corning. Got Alida dress at Evy’s Afternoon mowed the below the road on side hill

Fine day We put up the hay on the side hill back of the barn and I mowed the front yard and Ed the barn yard at the lower barn. We sold 7 sheep to John Lee for $17 to be taken away before the first of September. He paid me $1.00 Brindle corn

Ed mowed on his farm. I done chores . very warm. After noon I went to Beaver Dams and took L.G.? Beechers application for renewal of insurance policy. Also W. ? Savory’s.

I went to Penn Yan-very warm day. Had a fine shower. Came from Beaver Dams afoot, found them all ta? Ed drawed in hay and went to Harlen Miller’s barn raising.

Home alone. Ed Allie and Alida went to George Fero’s. Had a light rain and turned cool. Melvin Rollarson’s folks called just night- About sick today.



Mon 7/11
Ed put paris green on the tates. I went up to Ben’s aspell and took his policy to him. After noon Ed mowed and I mowed along the fence. We went to Beaver Dams at night.

Ed raked and I put up hay in the back field also in the middle field.

Wed 7/13
We drawed in hay out of the middle field. And some from back field then Ed mowed in front of the house.

Thurs 7/14
I took Allie up to Moore’s and then went to Beaver Dams and got the mail Ed finished mowing in front of the house, then mowed up in the back field on the hill.

Fri 7/15
We drawed up three loads from little field in front of the house the Ed finished mowing on the hill. I went up to Ben’s aspell.

Sat 7/16
Very warm day. I took Allie down home Ed finished raking on the hill. After noon Roy Weller helped him draw in 4 loads I and Alida went to the grange but had none. Very warm night

Ed and Allie went to Mr. Anthony’s. I and Alida went to church at Beaver Dams. Charley there. Then went over to Jameses to dinner. Very warm but had a fine shower just as we got home

Mon 7/18
Had a fine rain last night. I rolled beans and pulled weeds in the garden. James folks called here. Ed mowed some beyond the other barn. A lowry day

Tues 7/19
Ed finished mowing then raked beyond the other barn. I put up hay in the afternoon. In the fore noon went to George Palmer’s and hoed in the garden.

Wed 7/20
We drawed in 3 loads of hay in the lower barn After noon Ed went up in the woods after berries I went and bought 12 quarts of berries of C. R. Stevens paid 6 ½ cents a quart-lowry

Thur 7/21
Ed mowed across the road and I went to beaver Dams Took 2 ½ dozen eggs and got 20 lbs of sugar. Went in to see the Beecher’s Berriy field and his drying apparatus.
Fri 7/22
I went to Beaver Dams had 2 shoes set on Kit and got a demit for Mit and Ett. Had a hard shower while at the shop. James and Alida here-a very warm day.

Sat 7/23
I and Alida went to Avoca. Got to Mits about 5 o’clock warm and lowry day. Dema and Amanda there found them well. I loaded a load of hay for Mit.

A fine day Alida and Iva went to Wallace with the buggy. I stayed to Mits all day

Rainy day Stayed to Mit’s all day.

Lowry morning but afternoon fine. Mit’s family all went to Avoca and I went along and looked for a room for Isaac’s Agolary? .After noon Mit mowed I made a comb for the stable.

Mit patched his barn roof and cut barley. After noon he drawed in hay and mowed some. I took Alida to Wallace a fine day

lowry morning I shaved and then sharpened Mit’s razor. After noon pleasant Melvin Carmen? And wife here I stayed to Mit’s all day

warm and pleasant Mit mowed and got in 3 loads of hay I helped him get in one big load and mow it away

Rainy. I and Ed went into Beaver Dams this morning. Mr. Moore taken sick this morning. James and Alida came up, Alida stayed here and he went up to see his father. I went up there at night, found him very sick, but a little easier just then. Wed 6/1

Ed went after the Dr. and James and then after Melvina Roloson, for Mr. Moore, but he died before Melvina got there. I and Benjamin and Gerome Hall laid him out. Rainy day. I took B. H.. and Jane Voorhees application for insurance in the Farmer’s Reliance.
Martin Moore died this morning. Thurs. 6/2

Ed finished plowing buckwheat ground here this forenoon. Afternoon took his mother home and plowed on his place. Wet and drisly. James and Alida called here at night.
I took 2 bushels of oats and barley out of the bin and put into the feed box, making 14 bushels of new grain since we thrashed. Fri 6/3

Ed finished plowing on his place today. I went up to Mr. Moore’s to see if they wanted team or anything for tomorrow. I and Alida went to the grange. The Moreland Band in Beaver Dams today. Sat 6/4

Mr. Moore buried today. Wm. Gray, J. Clark, H. Miller, Wm. Stevens, D. Rogers and myself were pall bearers. Warm but lowry day. Duane Anthony’s folks here. George and Minnie called aspell after the funeral. Sun 6/5

Lowry with a little rain. Ed went to work in his corn. I done chores and went up to Ben’s and Jane came down aspell. Mon 6/6

Ed went to work on his place. Burt Rockwell got a load of hay for Dr. Seaman. I loaded it. 15.25 lbs. Tues 6/7

I and Ed went to Beaver Dams church to children’s exercises. Beautiful day. I and Alida went to Beaver Dams at night to see the children’s concert and young folks took part which was a credit to both and an honour to Beaver Dams. Sun 6/12

Ed commenced drawing manure on buckwheat ground. Arthur brought Alida up and got three bushels of buckwheat and Alida stayed till night- then I took her home. George lee got 4 bushels of potatoes. Tues 6/14

I went to Watkins to mill 2 bags of wheat and took one for Mr. Anthony. Isaac rode along down. I got home a little after 1 o”clock, Ed cultivated his corn. Mon 6/27

We drawed straw on the buckwheat and spread it. Afternoon I went to Frank and Jamses. Ed rolled the buckwheat. Very warm day. Tues 6/28

I trimmed some brush in the orchard, then went and got Evy McClusky for Alida. Ed cultivated potatoes. Wed 6/29

Frank’s folks called here on their way to Avoca. I got ready and went along. A very warm day. We called at Bath to see Mit? We got to Mit’s about 4 o”clock. Found them well and at work in the hay fields. I took Mit 2 forks and one shovel. Thurs 6/30

Minnie came here and I took her to Jameses., then I went to Uncle Henry’s a spell. Ed marked out his corn ground. Alida made soap, I done the chores and partly got ready for New York but gave up going. Wed 5/11

I went to Beaver Dams and had Kit shod. Alida cleaned the setting room after noon. Alida Moore came up with old Flora. I done chores, Ed planted his corn. Thurs. 5/12

I went to Monterey and heard of Mrs. Jones’ death. Took dinner to Jason’s then went over to Mr. Jones and then to Leroy Miller’s and then to Mr. Wareria’s?. Ed commenced dragging on the South hill for the first time here. Fri 5/13

I went to Mrs. Jones’s funeral, drove Kit to the top buggy. Seal and Annie T here today, Arthur Brough. Seal stayed all night. Ed dragged. Alida and I went to the mule sotiable at Schuman’s hall. Sat 5/14

Alida and Seal went to Jamses, drove Kit and Arthur came and met me at the foot of the hill. Charley came home on his bicycle and went back today with Mr. Pearson’s boy on his pony with him. The Schuylers buried Lewis Hoyt today with out a funeral or his family. Sun 5/15

Warm day. I dragged with Kit and Bill while Ed got his mare shod. He then got Mart’s seeder and sowed 12 bushels of oats on the south hill and commenced in the 9 acre lot. I done chores and dug line forever. Mon 5/16

Ed sowed oats in the 9 acre lot with Mart’s seeder till noon then took it home. I done chores as usual after noon I went to Leo Palmers and took his affliction for insurance in the Farmer’s Reliance., then called to see Mr. Jones and also Mrs. Ellis. Burt Rockwel Dr. to ten hundred and fifty of hay. $5.25+ Tues 5/17

Ed finished sowing the ten acre lot, it took about 20 bushels. I dragged while he sowed oats and seed, and got out the cultivator and plow., and we put together the roller last night. Wed 5/18

Ed rolled the grain on south hill and 9 acre lot. I done chores. After noon went to Jameses and then to Mr. Anthony’s and got my saw. Thurs 5/19

I trimmed apple trees while Ed went and got his plow. Then we sawed down 5 big apple trees and I dug out one and got afall. We drawed them of the potato ground and Ed commenced plowing it. Very warm. Fri 5/20

Done the chores in the morning, then went to Frank’s, very warm and dry. I and Leon went over to Uncle Henry’s a spell. I stayed to Frank’s all night. Dr. Seamans, Alida Moore and Sate Anthony there when I left home. Turned the cows to pasture for the first time. Sat 5/22 BOMPI BORN

I went to Watkins to mill with the buggy took two bushels of wheat. Got it from Frank making it three that I brought. I went to jump out of the buggy and hurt my shoulder.

We cleaned up grain and put my part of the barley back in the barn. Ed put his in box. Put the oats all back in the bin.Tues 4/5

Ed went down home afoot. I went to Mr.Nyes rode back with George Ellis. Frank and Robia here. Fine day but a cold wind. Wed 4/6

Fine day. Frank called here and got lock chain. Loren rode home with him. I went to Mrs. Phelps’s and paid her $602 for the Taylor mortage, the went to James and Minnie came back with me. Thur 4/7

I went to Penn Yan to adjust the loss of John ?. got home a little after 4. The Brindle cow came in. Fri 4/8

I took Minnie home.Ed took 8 bags of feed to Buchers mill and left it. After noon we drawed 3 loads of hay from the lower barn. We went to Beaver Dams at night. Sat 4/9

I and Alida went to church. They had Easter service. Warm day. The snow banks about gone in the road. Duane Anthony here today. Sun4/10

Ed commenced plowing on his place today. I and Allie went to Jameses today. Weather a little lousy. Alida home alone and washed. Mon 4/11

I went over to seeGeorge Ellis, found him at Mr. Jones. Ed plowed on his place. I went to Jamses and stayed all night. Alittle rain in the evening.Tues 4/12

I and James and Frank went to Elmira to the Implement Trial. Drove Kit and Jake. I got two forks, 2 shovels, 1 pail, 1 Rule, 1 cattle leader, 1 hammer, 1 dipper, 1 washer lotter?
George Ellis brought the Bill sheep home. Wed 4/13

Ed went down to his place to plow. Allie went to Duane’s. I and Alida kept house. I went up to Ben’s a little while. Minnie and George moved today. Thurs 4/14

Ed went to mill with 10 bags of feed. A little rainy. Left part of his load at Beaver Dams After noon he went after it and I went along.Fri 4/15

Ed went to his place to plow, I done chores. After noon I and Alida went to Beaver Dams and to the grange and stayed to James. Mrs. Sherman’s house burned last night. Sat 4/16

Snowed all day. I went up to Ben’s a spell. Ed went up to Moore’s. Snowed 4 inches deep at night. Allie’s cow came in today. Mon 4/18

Pleasant-but the ground covered in snow. James folks went up to his father’s. Arthur and Loren stayed here. Mart and Alma here in the evening. Tues 4/19

Fine day. Done chores as usual. After noon Ed and I went to Beaver Dams, took eggs to the store. I paid Miss Roberts her grange order of 40cents and took secretary’s book home. Wed 4/20

Warrmer and fine morning. We divided the sheep and put the ewes in barnyard; had 1 young lamb this morning.Ed and Allie went to James. Alida cleaned the bedrooms. Thurs 4/21

Ed went to his place to plow. Frank Underwood and a Mr. Sweet called here selling book and ironing board. Mr. Stone called here. I fixed the castors on Allie’s bedstead and fixed the bureau drawers. Fri 4/22

Lousy day. Ed home all day. I went to Beaver Dams just night and sent Ed’s policy back to have it corrected. I bought a 4 tined? Fork off Whitfield, paid 40cents. Sat 4/23

Pleasant but cold wind. Home all day. Uncle Henry Fero 90 years old today. Sun 4/24

I went to Watkins. Cold wind, roads fine most of the way. Ed commenced plowing his barn ground. Clarry Beecher commenced school here today. Mon 4/25

We drawed three loads of hay from the lower barn. Rainy, in the afternoon I went to Beaver Dams by foot, rode back with George Ellis.Fri. 4/29

Cold wind. Jim James came here with two cloth peddlers and I bought 5 patrons? And two shawls. Paid $50 After noon I and Ed went to James’ Alida came home with us James came in the evening and stayed all night
