Isaac Fero January 1887


"I attended Uncle Garret Vandervears Golden Wedding and had a pleasant time by meeting friends, which I enjoyed very much. A very cold and blustery day".


Saturday January 1 I and Isaac Moore helped Ed clean up Buckwheat, then he and Isaac took it to Beaver Dams and I and Allie went to James, and they came there. Charley home today. We went to Grange Installation at night.
Sunday January 2 Very cold, home all day and not anyone here.
Monday January 3 Home all day. Ed Edwards, Elmer Olmstead and Ben here today. Ed helped Mart saw wood today.
Tuesday January 4 We went to Watkins to Mill. Took 218 lbs of buckwheat and got 124 lbs. of wheat to Franks. Sleighing fine.
Wednesday January 5 James, Alida, Minnie, Annie, Harry Gray Perry Gaylord and their wives here, also Frank, Robia and Alma all here to dinner. I and all the men went to books vendue? Thursday January 6 I took Annie home. Asa Phelps' folks here and had a good visit. Sleighing fine
Friday January 7 Fine day sleighing. Ed went and got the hams and I went along to Beaver Dams. Sate Bolt here and bargained for apples at 45 cents. We hung up the hams and shoulders to smoke. Ed & Allie went to Stevens* in the evening.
Saturday January 8 Home alone. Ed and Allie gone to Mrs. Anthony*s. I went to Monterey and paid my tax ;$26.60. Took dinner at Jason*s. Mit and Alida home here tonight.
Sunday January 9 Mit and Alida here, also Isaac and Aurthur. I took Mit to Frank*s and Alida rode down with Isaac & Aurthur. I came home alone. Wind from south and it snowed and drifted quite a little.
Monday January 10 Very cold, 4 below zero. Ed went down to his fathers and stayed all day. Alida Olmstead rode up at night with him from Beechers. Mit came up afoot.
Tuesday January 11 Cold day, temp to zero. Mit started for home and Alida stayed here. He took one barrel of butter, hand sleigh, bedstead and some traps. I went to Havana to a meeting of the policy holders of the Farmers Reliance and elected Milt Bray Director. James went along. Allie went went along down home. Road drifting quite bad.
Wednesday January 12 Helped shovel the road open from Dorans to Mr. Wellers, then split wood in wood house. Ed drawed some wood. Alida Olmstead here since Monday. Daniel Buck died.
Thursday January 13 We all went to Minnie*s wedding. Alida stayed to James.* George and Minnie started for Buffalo, weather mild. Isaac went to Corning with them & Charley .
Friday January 14 Ed took apples to Bolts and went to Mill with corn feed. I went to D S Bucks funeral. After meeting went over to James. Weather mild and thawing with sprinkles of rain.
Saturday January 15 Duane Anthonys folks and Aaron Moore here today. Weather mild We went to the grange at night.
Sunday January 16 Went to church with the cutter and then went to James.* Ed and Allie went home and I stayed all night. Weather mild
Monday January 17 James took me and Isaac to the train. Isaac went to Dundee and I went to Penn Yan, from there to Marion. Mild in the morning but turned cold before night.
Tuesday January 18 I attended Uncle Garret Vandervears Golden Wedding and had a pleasant time by meeting friends, which I enjoyed very much. Very cold and blustery day.
Wednesday January 19 At Uncle Garrets*s all day and had a pleasant time visiting with friends.
Thursday January 20 Snow very deep. 10 of us went to Mr. Bartletts and made a visit, saw Aunt Hannah Allen and found her very feeble. Went back to Uncle Garret*s and stayed all night.
Friday January 21 Visited at Uncle Garret*s with Mr. & Mrs. Perkins, Mr. & Mrs. Mallett and son & Mrs. Shilley & Mrs. Syker? Mr. & Mrs. Henry Vandervee.r We all took dinner with Uncle & Aunt and had a fine time. After noon we all started for our homes. I attended a sociable at Mr. Sherman*s at Beaver Dams and got home at about 11 at night.
Saturday January 22 Home again, fine day. Mart helped Ed saw wood, I split some. I took 1!/2 bushels of oats out of the grainery, making with what Ed took out whilst I was gone to Marion to feed Kit, 2 bushels in all.
Sunday January 23 Went with Ed and Allie to James, found Alida sick with diptheria. I went to Frank*s and stayed all night. Mr. & Mrs. Lewis and Miss Wilover and Willie Bennett there also. Rainy night and sleighing gone, water high.
Monday January 24 Went over to see Alida, found her a little easier, then came over to Beaver Dams with Isaac. He went to Dundee after his things and quit going to school on account of sickness. Came home and found George Ellis here. Squalley day & windy.
Tuesday January 25 Weather mild, home all day. John Hosburgs*s folks here. We fixed the wood rack.
Wednesday January 26 Stormy and colder. Ed oiled his heavy harness, I done chores and sat in the house.
Thursday January 27 I went to see Uncle Abram, found him quite feeble but about. Ed drawed some wood.
Fri 1/28 I and Allie went to James, found Alida some better. Isaac & Alida Olmstead came home from Watkins. Cold South wind, drove Kit in cutter but part way bare ground.
Sat 1/29 Home alone. Ed and Allie gone to William Saylors. Long and lonely day.
Sun 1/30 I went to church and after meeting went to Mr. Weller*s and stayed till just night, went afoot. Ed and Allie after meeting went to Mr. Anthony*s. Dan Chapman died today.
Mon 1/31 I went down across to Melvin Rollason*s afoot to inform them of Dan Chatman*s death, then went to Frank*s and James and rode home with Mart.
