Alida Moore January 1891

Thursday January 1,
I stayed home all day and made a sawbrick and drawed up a little wood. Isaac was down to Beaver Dams

Friday January 2
We sawed some wood in the am Isaac started with a load of bark and got stuck and we had to unload it Carrie Culver and Della Pachen were here Thawed all night and all day, rained a little

Saturday January 3
Isaac & Arthur went and helped shovel the road towards Beaver Dams in morning, then Arhtur came home and got ready and went to Dundee on the noon train Isaac, Ed, and Frank Coger went to Caitlin in the Pm. I went along to Allie’s Cold

Sunday January 4
Annie, Loren and I went to Moreland to church & Sunday School; Mr. Thompson preached Annie & Loren went to Christian Endeavor in eve, came back by Ed’s and brought Allie home

Monday January 5
Washed and done usual housework Handed? A pair of mittens for Loren Isaac loaded a load of bark and took it as far as Beaver Dams Ed was over in the pm Arthur came home on the pm train from Dundee

Tuesday January 6
At home all day Churned. Ironed and usual work Robi and Ed’s folks were here Isaac went to post with bark and Arthur drawed wood in the am Went to see Charley Rhodes in the pm Loren went to school and over to Frank’s to stay all night & go skating cold

Wednesday January 7
Went over to Aaron’s Called to Frank’s and borrowed 2 qts soap Arthur went down to Rhode’s in am to mill and got pay for logs then went to Beaver Dams and paid tab? Isaac went to Painted Post with bark Annie went down to Mr. Lafever’s calling in pm Cold, nice sleighing

Thursday January 8
Cold but pleasant Done usual work, sewed some on sheet Pa and wife were over Isaac went to post with bark again Arthur chopped some in wood and chored around Loren went to school





Friday January 9
Cold and pleasant Done usual work Hattie made cookies Arthur went over to Ed’s awhile in am then came home and took Anna and I up to Mr. Wm Saylor’s visiting Arthur and Loren came up after us and stayed awhile in the evening Isaac went to Beaver Dams in morning then came back and drove up to Mr. Bronson’s Hattie rode along Isaac and Arthur worked in the woods in pm Loren went to school

Saturday January 10
Cold and Pleasant Done usual Saturday work, finished Ed’s shirt The boys drew up wood and logs all day Loren put last of the wood in woodhouse ib am In pm went skating Charles Jones was buried by the Masons

Sunday January 11
Rained hard All home all day Spent the day reading Turned cold at night and froze up

Monday January 12
Quite cold and blustery Anna & I washed; Hattie done other work Arthur drawed manure Isaac helped awhile, then went over to the Dams and got mail, came back to Ed’s for dinner

Tuesday January 13 Cold Churned & hung up clothes and done usual work Anna went with Mr. Osborne’s out to Ella’s Leon called and told about their sheep being killed by dogs Arthur and Isaac went to Beaver Dams got shoes mended

Wednesday January 14
Quite cold, squally at night Arthur went up to Drake’s and finished paying threash bill Isaac went along to Mr. Bronson’s When they came back Arhtur took me over to Frank’s- Isaac came after me at night Came around by Ed’s I called there anna came home from Ellis’s

Thursday January 15
Quite a mild cold Done usual work, made pies and c. or the girls did Arthur and I went out to Vines with Pa’s folks Isaac went to Beaver Dams in pm Loren went to prayer meeting in eve to B.D. to parsonage

Friday January 16
Quite cold I took Anna over to Ed’s and then went down to Beaver Dams and came back and staid there till night the rest were home all day Uncle Aaron’s called about night Don came home and staid all night John Tracey buried

Saturday January 17
Arthur and I went to down to Minnie’s Arthur helped Geo draw straw from one barn to the other We stopped for Pa’s folks to go along but they had another engagement Annie and Hattie were home all day Isaac went to Beaver Dams in the am and took Don home Loren went to B.D. skating It snowed coming home It was a very blustery night

Sunday January 18
Cold Went to Moreland to Baptist church Mr. Thompson preached All went but Isaac and Hattie Found Ed and Allie here when we got home Arthur, Annie and loren went to Beaver Dams to Christian Endeavor in eve

Monday January 19
Some warmer Washed and usual work Isaac and Arthur drawed buckwheat straw out in field Loren went to school

Tuesday January 20
Quite warm Done usual housework, churned, made cookies and cake or Hattie did sewed binding on Annie’s quilt Annie went to Frank’s Ed helped Arthur drawing straw in am Took a load over to Pa Arthur sawed wood in pm Isaac and I went over to Pa’s in eve to ask to ask him to go along to Corning tomorrow and brought Annie home.

Wednesday January 21
Warm, thawed Annie and Hattie ironed and done usual work Arthur and I went to Corning, Pa went along, and ordered a monument to cost $110 Mr. Smith came here and drew up writings for to rent his farm to Isaac A fellar called Arthur, Annie and Lauren went up to the Baptist Donation George and Minnnie came about 1/2 past o’clock and staid all night Edward Stevens died

Thursday January 22
Colder tonight Done usual housework, sewed some for Minnie, they stayed till pm then went home It rained hard till 1 o’clock Arthur went over to Ed’s and got his hair cut after George’s went home Loren went to school in am but came home, the teacher was sick

Friday January 23
Not very cold Baked ginger snaps, mopped and done usual house work Patched Arhtur’s pants Went to Mr. Steven’s funeral Called to Mr. Roberts and to Frank’s while Arthur was having the colt shod Arthur and Loren went skating in eve to Lafever’s

Saturday January 24
Quite mild Baked pies and done usual Saturday’s work Isaac took me over to Ed’s in am Stayed till night and went down to BeaverDams with them to hear Professor Cline lecture Came home after the lecture with Arthur and Annie Loren walked Isaac and Loren went to Watkins with potatoes in the am

Sunday January 25
Pleasant but cold Loren went to Beaver Dams in am to church and ss and then went to Pa’s and staid till evening Arthur, Annie and I went to Moreland to SS Arthue and Annie went to Beaver Dams to Christian Endeavor in eve



Monday January 26
Thawed Washed and usual house work Isaac and Arthur went to Watkins with potatoes 50 bushels Loren went to school

Tuesday January 27
Warm and pleasant Churned, baked bread, canned four cans of apples and usual work The boys sawed and split wood Isaac went to Beaver Dams in pm Frank brought him home and got 5 bushels potatoes Loren went to school in the am but the teacher was sick and gave up the school and he came home and went to Minnie’s on the train in pm Arthur went to Moreland in eve

Wednesday January 28
Warm Ironed and usual work The boys went up on hill in am and got pine for kindling, in pm split and piled it Isaac went down to LaFever’s, they sent me some beef Arthur and Annie went to Mart’s and staid all night

Thursday January 29
Warm Done usual work, patched Ed, Allie and children came over in am Ed helped the boys saw shingle bolts Arthur and Annie came home in the pm Dr. Seaman and Mrs. LaFever here in the eve. Arthur went over to Ed’s and staid all night

Friday January 30
Isaac’s born born at half past five in the am Done usual work and tended the baby Loren came home in the am Mrs. LaFever came up a little while and Annie went down and done her wash so she could come

Saturday January 31
Cold south wind done usual Saturday work, baked cake and pies, tended baby , took care of baby (line I can’t read) Isaac and Loren went to Beaver Dams in am then Isaac and Arthur went to Tracey vendue Isaac went up to engage Mrs. Upron to wash. Frank and Robi called fixed mince meat
